For me, Dashna is personal. It brings together my family’s history, my parents’ eye for jewellery, and the future my brother Arvin and I are helping to build.
Our family’s connection to precious stones began over a century ago with my great-grandfather, Manickam, who traded gemstones. His understanding of quality, rarity and value laid a foundation that would carry through the family.
His grandson, my father Asokan, took that connection into the gold and jewellery trade, starting his own business in 1994. Trust, transparency and personal relationships were central to his approach—and they still shape how we work today.
In 2008, my father and my mother, Nandhini, founded Dashna Jewellery in Pondicherry. Together, they brought their own taste, experience and care to the business.
My mum’s jewellery always gets attention. Hers never seems to look like anything else you see around the city. There’s always a “wow”—and that says more about her eye for something special than I ever could.
That sense of individuality is part of Dashna. My parents care about how a piece looks, how it is made, and the small details that bring it all together. The gemstone matters, but so do the design, the proportions and the finish.
Their taste and standards continue to guide us. We want you to find a piece that feels like you—something you love putting on, that gets noticed and stays with you for years.
Today, my brother Arvin and I are taking the family business forward, bringing our own ideas and a growing digital presence to Dashna.
Modern tools, including 3D-aided design, help us explore a piece with you before it takes shape at the workbench. They make it easier to share ideas, understand the details and feel involved in what we’re creating together.
I manage the Dashna Group, and part of my role is bringing our family’s experience to more people while keeping that personal connection. Our parents remain a guiding presence as we build this next chapter.
